Walter (Michiel Huisman) és Arthur Davidson (Bug Hall), illetve Bill Harley (Robert Aramayo) három Milwaukee-ból származó fiú nagyot álmodik és létrehozza az azóta legendássá vált Harley-Davidson motort. Nagyon különböznek egymástól: Walter a társadalmi korlátokat küzdené le, a szabadság a fontos számára, Arthurt a hírnévszerzés hajtja, Bill peddig önállósodni szeretne. Első motorjukat a saját sufnijukban építik meg, majd illegális motorversenyen bizonyítanak vele, a nagy rivális, az Indian ellen.
